Deadlock Prevention in Process Control Computer System

چکیده
Deadlock can occur wherever multiple processes interact. System deadlock is a serious problem in a multiprogramming environment. The approaches to this problem can be divided into three categories: (1) prevention, (2) detection and recovery, and (3) avoidance. This paper proposes a variation of the first approach, partially applying ideas developed in the second and third approaches. This is an approach that is especially effective in process control computer systems, in which the application programs are usually fixed once designed. Using four predetermined application program parameters obtained in the program development stage, a directed graph model and a 'restriction' matrix model are introduced representing

A Hybrid Meta-heuristic Approach to Cope with State Space Explosion in Model Checking Technique for Deadlock Freeness
Model checking is an automatic technique for software verification through which all reachable states are generated from an initial state to finding errors and desirable patterns. In the model checking approach, the behavior and structure of system should be modeled. Graph transformation system is a graphical formal modeling language to specify and model the system. However, modeling of large s...

متن کاملDesign of Deadlock Prevention Supervisor in Waterway with Multiple Locks and Canals
To avoid conflict and deadlock states in waterway with multiple locks and canals, a computer based traffic management system with proper control policy must be applied. The paper proposes a formal method for design of deadlock prevention supervisor by using discrete event theory, multiple reentrant flowlines class of Petri net and P-invariants control places calculation. By using and/or matrix ...
متن کاملGisi{rr-97-05 a Partial Approach to the Problem of Deadlocks in Processes with Resources
In the modeling and control of manufacturing systems one of the aims is to obtain a system that can run in an automatic way. This means that the software in charge of the monitoring and control of the system must be able to deal with a set of problematic situations (system failures, system deadlocks, over ow of storing facilities, etc.). In this paper we are going to concentrate on one of the p...
متن کاملFlexible Manufacturing System Design and Optimization using Petri Net-based Elementary Siphons
A computer simulation system, which is based-siphon Petri net for control of concurrent processes of the reusable resources, that is mainly aimed to provide guidelines for control and management engineering of flexible manufacturing systems (FMSs) is presented in this work. We present an important technique for the analysis of siphon Petri net (PN) based on structural analysis, control, and sim...
